Expanding Haras du Buff
As the 2012 breeding season is fast approaching, I am pleased to inform you that I have been able to secure an additional property to expand the activities of Haras du Buff. My son Bertrand has purchased his own farm around the corner and his land will be used by Haras du Buff as well.
Both new properties are located in the same village, which is very close to the main farm. These old cattle farms were given a two year rest and are now being fully re-fenced with post and rails. This land now gives us an additional 200 Acres of fresh pasture from prime Normandy top soil.
My late husband Pierre Charles built a good team of experienced people, some of which are still with us today. Our manager is assisted by several young and motivated horseman and we are fortunate to have access to excellent vets and farriers. At Haras du Buff we believe that healthy pasture is paramount and our paddocks have been closely followed for years by the “Farm Clinic”, one of Kentucky’s leading agronomists.
Arqana has done well rejuvenating the Deauville sales and our markets have been very resilient through the Financial Crisis, while attracting new buyers from all over the world. Thanks to our unique wagering operator the PMU, France currently has the best prize money in Europe and our system of owners and breeders’ premiums is envied by the rest of the world.
I am very positive about the future of our industry and I invite you to breed and race horses in France. If you have any horses relocating to France, I would be delighted if you would consider Haras Du Buff as their new home.
I hope to see you in France for the broodmare sales in early December and I will be happy to show you our new farms after the sales.
